Hi all, I have a return Classic Reward Flight booked for August from MEL-PER-FCO, depart 1 August and return 25 August. Both flights are currently under the same booking. I was wondering whether it’s possible at all to split the flights into seperate bookings in case I need to amend the date of the return flight as I understand you cannot make changes to any reward flights in a booking if travel has already commenced. Has anyone done this before and how did you go about splitting the booking?

Thanks!

Afaik its not possible to split your booking in two. If you see award availabilities now, you could book one leg, and trim your return itinerary to only keep the other leg.

Note that you are allowed to change the date of your return, even after flying the first leg. You cant change airline or route however. You will also need to have award availability which I suspect will be the limiting factor for this route on those dates.

All that will require interacting with the call center, which is a bit of a pain at the moment, some reported loosing their award due to poor staff training. Best is to avoid when possible.
