My flight sq237 sin-Mel has been slight changed but also has a new flight no. - SQ6001

Any suggestion why the 4 digits?
Also which plane will this be using?

Care to share the date?

May be to do with the changes to CBR-WEL and MEL-WEL

It could be something to do with the new route from MEL to Wellington.

I have recieved a number of emails changing SQ237 (my first class award booking) to 6001 and back again, then an hour later.

Maybe new suites are coming?

6001 sounds like a "dummy" flight for holding bookings whilst changes are confirmed due to timetable changes.

This wouldn't be a used flight number, the only instance I'd suggest a number like this would be if SQ 1 was delayed, such that two SQ 1 would be used on same day, but even then I think SQ use the approach of adding a D to the flight number.

I too noticed this in the morning. I'm now departing 30 mins after my original departure time. I have a long lay over in singapore so it doesn't affect me too much. At worst I just had to readjust where I was seated.

My SQ bookings HBA-xMEL-xSIN-BKK and return through Sydney where it's Virgin Australia metal on the domestic legs the flight numbers are SQ65xx and SQ64xx
Your flight is not diverting to Hobart is it :p:)

I believe the SQ codeshare on the Virgin Flights have those codes.
