SQ MEL-WLG Premium Economy award

Singapore Airlines will start using an Airbus A350-900 with Premium Economy seating on its MEL-WLG route from 1 November.

Interestingly, for KrisFlyer redemptions there is no price listed for Premium Economy award bookings on the SQ award chart for this route. You also cannot book Premium Economy awards online (you just get an error message), although you can book commercial fares.

I called up Singapore Airlines and was told that there was plenty of award availability for MEL-WLG in Premium Economy, but the price would be 31,000 KrisFlyer miles + $117.99 in taxes. That's exactly the same number of miles as a Business Saver award on the route, which makes no sense.

Hopefully these are just teething problems...

No, in fact quite the opposite. They didn't give any acknowledgement that they thought there was a problem.
