Stacking Krisflyer Gold/Velocity Platinum; Krisflyer Elite Miles Question

Hey all!

Just looking for a some clarification to a few queries:

#1 - I now have both Velocity Platinum and Krisflyer Gold, does the extra 20kg international baggage 'stack' on a flight? I have a business class flight booked for January next year with 40kg baggage. Would this mean I only get +20kg baggage once for 60kg total, or twice?

#2 - There's a new HSBC card that provides StarAlliance Gold after spend. If I choose Krisflyer once will something like this add another 12months to my expiry date, or 12 months from the day once redeemed, or it won't have any affect (e.g. current January 2024 expiry date will remain?)

#3 - I've been looking around to see if there's anyway to obtain Krisflyer Elite miles other than flying, but haven't been able to find anything except the promotion SGA ran last year sometime (transferring points for Elite status). Is there any ways I've missed to obtain Krisflyer Elite miles? I'm a couple thousand short of maintaining for next year and I don't think I'll be doing much more flying.

#4 - I've just always booked partner on same booking to get benefits. Is it worth your partner getting a CC to get Gold status or is this generally inefficient?

#5 - with Krisflyer and Velocity status, is it generally better to book flights under Velocity or Krisflyer?

#6 - if I book with either Singapore or Virgin, I can ever only claim miles/points/status credits from one right? There's no way to claim for both programs?

Thanks for your time guys :)

1) don’t believe it stacks . You need to nominate status from one airline .
2) if you already have gold with your nominated airline status does. Not get extended . Instead you receive 40 k bonus miles.

That depends on your class of travel. There is a great website wheretocredit.com Enter your carrier, booking class and it will tell you how many miles you will earn with many different FF programs. It doesn't take into account any status multipliers so you would need to do that maths yourself.

Unfortunately no. But you can accrue miles to different programs for different legs. When you check in just inform the agent which program you want to accrue to for that flight.
