I notice that on the Aussie AA site we are offered 'Standard Plus' fares. They are a little more expensive than the 'Standard' Fare, but seem to offer standby upgrade among some bagge allowances. The fare books into O class for the route I'm looking at (LAX-SFO).

The AA USA site seems to offer a very similar fare via 'Economy Saver', except the fare is twice as much and standby for an earlier flight feature comes with a fee (see tiny print in their conditions)!

Anyone had experience using this feature of the fare? I don't have AA status, but would a quick flash of my QF WP status grant me any special access to earlier flights without purchase of a 'Standard Plus' fare and just the 'Standard' fare?

LAX-SFO AA.com (US) has:

Economy Super Saver
: $49 ex
Economy Saver: $177 ex (booking class L)

LAX-SFO AA.com (AUS) has:

Standard:
$62.90 inc
Standard Plus: $83.30 inc (booking class O)
