Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but when checking freq flyer availabilty today, I noticed that Jetstar's Starclass was been offerred as an option on SYD-HNL flights.

What is interesting, is that they were offerring it at the same cost as regular business, ie 72000 points each way, a 100% premium over economy (plus $320 for return taxes, ouch!)

From memory (and I am happy to be corrected), doesn't Qantas offer WT+, a similar product, on BA flights at only a 50% premium over economy (and until recently only a 25% premium).

But conversely if you actually pay for Starclass they give you the Business Class SC and points.
I wonder if there will ever be an "enhancement" where Starclass becomes the equivalent of WT+ or Y+ (if they install it on the A380).:-| Oh does WT+ give you the same SC as full Y fare bucket?

Still not good value IMHO.

A slightly different question, but thought it was more efficient to post it here rather than create a new thread.

Can anyone tell me how far in advance of flight date that award seats for Jetstar Starclass are made available? I am looking to book MEL-BKK for the family next Sept, but there is nothing showing on-line and the Premium operator also could not find any availability post June 08.

Also, is there a current discount available for Starclass awards? The operator told me that Starclass for MEL-BKK was 94,000 pts as opposed to 120,000 for QF J. I understood, as per the comments above in this thread, that the points were the same. If they are the same I will take the QF J, even if that means routing via SYD.

Edit: just followed the link on Serfty's post above, and it shows the 20% discount is still available for bookings made before 30/11/07, for travel before 30/11/08. So either all availabile awards for MEL-BKK flights after June 08 has been taken already, or they are cutting off the booking date prior to the availability being released.
