On this trip we had 2 nights near DFW.First on arrival from SYD and stayed at the Westin. Then when leaving for Florida and stayed at the Sheraton DFW North. The properties are basically over the road from each other. We stayed as SPG platinum.
Westin. No problems at checkin and upgraded to a junior suite.Good view straight down one of the DFW runways.

The room was very comfortable but basically we went straight to bed and on waking picked up our rental and stared off to San Antonio.Only other benefit was 2 bottles of water.Rate-$US130.
Sheraton DFW.Again no problems with checkin.Upgrade to club floor-top floor. No suite but they only have 1 suite per floor and had a conference on there. But got lounge access with a decent breakfast-3 hot items.Plus free standard drinks in the evening-and they let you take extra back to your room.Standard ordinary snacks. However this certainly beat standard Hilton Exec lounges in the USA.Also got free internet.Rate $US 69.
So if you want a better room and suite upgrade then the Westin is for you.If free breakfast, evening drinks and internet is a better benefit or you want to spend less then the sheraton is the one.Personally if flying in from australia I would in the future pick the Sheraton.

Many thanks for that review ! i was needing a hotel in DFW next month and airport is absolutely ideal :)

Westin DFW is great - have stayed there quite a few times.

Wish I didn't though. For the last weekend of our trip there, we found out the W Dallas was the same price (at our corporate rates)! Only spent two nights there, but got the most amazing room (Cool Corner Room - huge balcony, massive room, very modern). Good views from the Ghost Bar too (bar itself is OK, but there are better bars in town).

If you need to be right near DFW, go with the Westin for sure, but if you don't mind a bit of extra travel, check out the rates at W Dallas...it's still my favourite W (Mexico City comes second).

Cheers,
- Febs.

Glad you mentioned that, i transit DFW a few times in 2009, some short some long, for sure i will check out the W's on the longer stay's.
W in MEX i will also try to check out towards the end of the year when i am down there.

All good hints guys :)
