After 7 years of business flying (on those fabulous company preferred red e-deals) I qualified for the first time as a WP today!

I really wish I knew (read: cared) about the benefits of being of WP and this forum back when I first started flying, because I finished 5 out of 7 years, with approx 20-65 SCs short of qualifying for WP!

I have to admit, I had one SC run which can be seen as cheating in some ppl's opinions* ;) however I still have two months left of my qualification period and I would have qualified anyway without the SC run.

I engaged in the SC run so I could get access to the FLounge next week when we fly to Hawaii  on a buy1get1free cheapskate JQ ticket.

* to which my response is... it doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you are there! Besides, not everyone flys J to LHR 3 x a year!

Anyway my journey thus far in this assessment year has included:
41 Dom QF legs
2 BA Int legs
4 JQ legs that earnt SCs
12 JQ legs that did not :(
3 DJ legs

and only 3 cancelled flights, 25 delayed flights, 3 inflight incidents, 1 maiden JQ voyage to NAN and 0 OP-UPs.

Thanks for hints & tips team! I'm looking forward to FLounging next week!

Congrats and welcome to the club.

I have just returned from my first overseas trip with the WP card and the coveted green oval on the magic card.

I loved the first class check in desks especially at SIN and HKG (both with CX). At HKG I was walking towards the desk, well lecterns really in a discrete area.

A gentleman approached me to see if I was worthy to be in the area and when I discreetly displayed the card his smile became evident and I was welcomed like a long lost son and introduced to the lady doing the check in duty.

Many other benefits which I quite enjoyed as well.

Most importantly, I have already flown or booked 880 SCs for my Nov requalification.

hvr - I really like your description of the determination of worthiness! I look forward to something similar as I approach the Flounge! I'm flying to Singapore, HK, LAX & India for work on separate work trips this year so I'm looking forward to becoming familiar with the Flounge (& requalification).

In my excitement I neglected to mention the couriering of tags!

Has anyone ever paid for this service with QFF? I would like mine to arrive before we fly out, as I feel a little awkward about pulling out a print out of my FF account or my iPad to prove my worthiness to gain entry to the second* most holy place in flyer land!

I was waiting for about 5 weeks for my WP card to arrive but with only 10 days before I was off to the US I rang them to find out it had been 'shipped' a few weeks earlier (and never arrived). The courier got it to Perth within a few days which was very handy!

Congrats on WP. Enjoy the FLounge.

31 delays/cancels/inflight incidents out of 62 flights is not a good stat....

Strange - I have never been asked for my card at HKG. IT must be the striding in confidently with only hand luggage that theyj ust assume I am worthy ;)

If flying on QF/JQ you dont need the card as your status should be shown on the BP. The tags are no use for international flights.
