We have a booking for MEL to BNK ( direct flight) in Oct 2022. Yesterday I received an email with flight change information and it is no more direct with a stop over in Sydney. Does this mean we will receive status credits as per the individual legs or the actual direct flight that I had booked initially.

Three of us are flying and all credits are pooled into my account , so looking to balance the credits to ensure I can maintain my platinum status.

Thanks

actual direct flight
You will get the SC from the actual flights. With the new 1 stop 2 flight via SYD you will get SC for both. I assume though that the 2 sectors have different flight numbers.

Having said that, if the change is the other way - ie from 1 stop 2 flights to non stop 1 flight, you will also get the SC from the actual flights but you can ring up and apply for original routing credit for the original 1 stop 2 flights

Just work out in the SC calculator what the difference is between nonstop 1 flight and 1 stop 2 flight
