I plan to fly from Manila to Hong Kong, probably with Cathay Pacific.

I'm trying to figure out how many status credits I'll earn for this trip, but qantas site won't tell me as they have "no direct flights" between the 2 cities.

Any ideas how I could find this out?

On a more general note, what are people's experiences with getting status credit posted to qantas ff account after flying on one world partner airline?

Use mileage monkey and tick the ignore error box.

MNL-HKG shows as 15 SCs for discount Y and 60 for J.

Have never had an issue with SCs not posting from OneWorld airlines but always keep your BPs until they do.

Happy travelling.

+1 for the mileage monkey suggestion. As for one world carriers Lan is the only one that seems to have issues with QF SC's, along with JQ if we throw them into the mix and leave the one world requirement out, they are a foreign carrier  (to me).

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Just be aware that not all CX economy fare classes will earn with QFF.

Check the Airline Earning Table. If the booking class is not listed then it's unlikely to earn anything.

I'll second that. I got caught on that last year. S class doesn't get points/SC's. Wasn't happy.

Have not looked closer at the two programs but if a fare is eligible for asia miles does that indicate QFF earn or is there no correlation in terms of fare buckets?

No correlation ... fortunately if booking online, the CX website is good at showing you what fare bucket a given set of flights falls in to, so you can cross reference that against the QFF earning table to ensure you're getting a fare that will earn points and SCs.

CX is usually pretty good at posting points and SCs, but not flawless by a long shot.

I've had problems with SCs posting from CX on this very route, for similar reasons to the infamous LAN SC route (unforced name mismatch and incorrect booking class entered in system). Missing points claim failed and we had to chase this and a few other legs up manually - so keeping BPs is a must.

SC for CX flights normally posted within 3 working days. There are some discounted tickets that won't give you any SC or points.

hi

thinking of doing the J class on this route, but feeling a bit worried by many reviews of Cathay Pacific business class as coffin like.

Anybody got any experience of this?

Gotta say the lack of windows really make me go ew.

same as syd-akl 80 in J. (corrected in later post)

what fare are you flying on?

From MNL to HKG it's the best J offering (IMO).

Reviews of the CX "coffin" seats are mixed, and if it's a "regional" config, i dont believe the seats are lie-flat anyway (and hence they wont be "coffin-like"). Happy to be corrected.

Just did the coffin and was quite comfortable but didn't like the spatial perspective (lack of windows), the thing with Cathay is service.

Regional are not lie flat.

CX are good for U/G for OWE.
