Hi everyone, my Qantas membership year ends August 31st and i have 280 status points and i won't be flying till mid September. So how do i earn the 20 points needed without flying to reach silver status ?

Welcome to AFF Graeme Jenkins!

You can't earn SCs without flying.

Welcome!

You wont be missing much not having Silver, especially if you mainly fly QF domestic. It's unlikely to be worth a quick return trip to reach Silver. If you do some browsing on AFF I'm sure you'll find it much easier and more enjoyable getting Silver (or more) next year though!

Welcome aboard Graeme Jenkins, as JohnK says above as a minimum you would need to do a short return flight to get your 20 status credits

edit - I had the wrong info

Welcome Graeme. As an observation, your thread title may be better as "Status Credits". The points (i.e., frequent flyer points) are really another matter.

Welcome to AFF Graeme.

I don't believe you can earn status credits without actually flying. But is Silver that great anyway?

I have changed the thread title accordingly.

Welcome to AFF Graeme Jenkins! You'll find using the right terminology helps people to assist you better. In this case, you have status credits and points. But not status points. We get the idea but it's better to use the right terms.

Depending on where you're based, if attaining Silver is important to you your just need the cheapest return WF flight you could take. It'll probably cost you about ~$200 this late to departure.

Wouldn't the OP receive 2 free bag tags worth $100 plus a lounge pass he can sell on ebay (sic)

The biggest selling point of silver is priority check-in. I have seen some of the economy queues recently and it does not look like fun. If you do 2-3 trips overseas to USA/UK then that is worth it alone.

And don't forget the 50% status bonus on QFF points.
