Hi, I have just noticed that I am going to be 5 status points short of getting platinum on a flight this weekend from OOL-MEL. If I go to the service desk and pay for one leg to be upgraded to Business Class will that count thereby giving me the extra 5 points that I need to get Platinum?

Sorry just read it was in the Velocity section not Qantas so wrong info.

If the original flight was a Red e-Deal then it might be cheaper to change to the Flex fare rather than business class as the Flex has double the status credits of the deep discount fare.
Seat is already booked as a Flexi fare , so upgrading to business was the only option, however as it was booked through our corporate travel agent I cant do anything apparently and will have to book a totally new flight to get the 5 points I need. If I book a full fare ticket (to get the points I need) can I then book reward seats my the wife and the 2 yr old?

I may have the flying arrangements for your family mixed up, but couldn't you pay for a ticket for one of them and family pool?

I know you can't be sure of anything, but my husband just got upped to Gold after accruing 495 status credits, you might be lucky. Best of luck to you!
