I have sent an email for the status match, how long does it take to come through? I am waiting to do a booking for flights, i want to see if the status match will come through quick, so i can give virgin a try.

Also, i heard people say in some threads that they went into virgin lounge to get a status match. Is this true? so you dont have to wait for a reply by email, you can just walk into a virgin lounge and get it done?

Also were is the virgin lounge in perth domestic airport?

There is a sticky thread in the Virgin Australia Velocity forum.

The status match can take up to ~4 weeks if doing it via email where as it happens in ~5 minutes if doing the status match in the lounges.

Virgin have asked that people don't double up with applications.
They have also said you can go into a lounge and get a temp card until the match comes through.
Thus far matches have been coming through in as little as four days.

ps I have fixed your thread title For you.

Really :?::!:

Its fixed now :)

I guess i will go into the lounge to get my status match and temp card. Does anyone know if i can use the temp card overseas with Delta / V America to get access to the lounge ?

NO, I matched at the MEL lounge and Keith informed me the temporary card was only good for domestic travel until my Status was approved.

I got my match WP in 5 days!! Cant wait to try out DJ now:lol:

Did anyone see in the T&C's that SQ KrisFlyer members are ineligible (as are Air NZ) for the status match. I hope this isn't something that gets rigorous checking since it would be counter productive to their attempts to lure SG and WP members across (most of which probably have multiple program memberships)

I believe the terms are there to indicate they won't match to one of their partners programs. You can still match to a QFF status level, even if you happen to hold one of their partners elite levels.

I think the point was that they would not be matching those partner member status levels, not that people who held status with partners were completely ineligible.

Take serfty for example - he already has NZ GE but is also QF WP, so was matched on the basis of the latter (but wouldn't have been if all he had was the former).

I didn't know where the DJ lounge was in Perth so I applied online... it's been 5 days now without a response... I'll keep people posted... I guess I'm not in any rush anyway...

That proves that there is definitely a random factor involved. I sent my email monday afternoon and have nothing yet.

Yep, two days from application for status match. Just logged into the velocity website to find, i have been upgraded. Great work.

It shows when a system really works, it doesn't take long to get things done.

Matched in lounge Fri a week ago, status updated last Fri. So a week. Seems to be a common timeframe
