Quick question,

With status credits on rewards coming to an end, I'm trying to accumulate some last minute credits.

Can anyone tell me if flexis upgraded with points earn business class SC's?

Thanks!

They have been, but only if rebooked into Z class by calling VA/Velocity to do so.

Three are reports that some "on departure upgrades" done in the lounges do not qualify for business SC's.

Do they have a problem changing the fare to Z? Wanting to upgrade an upcoming MEL - PER and would love the extra status credits if at all possible!

On serfty's advice, I've just done my upgrade through the call centre & the reissued ticked shows my fare babsis as ZUPGD.

The only prompting I gave the operator was to ask the question "If I upgrade using points will the seat be rebooked into Z class"

When the operator said yes, I went ahead with the change.

Upgraded the Mrs and I to J from Flexi recently when we flew Perth - Brisbane return. Pooled the Mrs SC's to me and came away with a cool 320 status credits!

Re-qualified gold and now now only 80 sc's short of platinum!

Loving the earn on rewards flights at the moment.

I'll have to check with VA again,I was told upgrades from flexi would earn SCs at the flexi rate.

This is what the Velocity website says: "Members travelling on Upgraded fares purchased with Points or any other subsidised means of Upgrades on Virgin Australia or our partner airlines will earn Status Credits based on originally purchased fare classes." Interesting that the call centre has a different view.

This is what the Velocity website says...

Ah, but Velocity website also says "Status Credits are not earned for... tickets issued as Air Rewards. However, T&Cs for the 'status credits on reward flights' promotion are here:
Earn Status Credits on Reward Seats Terms and Conditions| Velocity Frequent Flyer

Many members here interpret "book and travel on a Virgin Australia (VA) marketed and operated flight in a Reward Seat Fare Class" as including upgraded bookings into the applicable fare classes. ie buy a K fare, book an upgrade to Z, earn full business status credits. And in practice this is what has been happening during the promotion period.

OK. Never was good at reading fine print. That's good to know thanks.
