Better half, currently gold is due for reassessment 1st March. Email received from Qantas (see below)

I have read other similar posts but tips/suggestions appreciated re whether it is worth pointing out that overseas trip in 2007 used Qantas points & again in 2008 membership year another trip already booked using points. Will this strengthen or weaken case?

"We appreciate your ongoing support of Qantas and hope to continue to provide you with your Gold privileges in the coming year. We'd like to remind you that your Gold Frequent Flyer membership is due for assessment at the end of February 2008. At this stage, it appears you may not have enough Status credits or Eligible Flight Segments to re-qualify for Gold.
However, we understand your travel needs fluctuate from year
to year. If your travel plans involve enough eligible flights*
(whether booked or not) between March 2008 and February 2009,
we may be able to extend your Gold privileges for another year.
Tell us your plans You need to submit your travel plans for assessment online before 29 Feb 2008. This will give us time to send your
new membership card before your current one expires. Please
note, you can submit your travel plans for assessment once
only via the online form. A once-only exception Although we may be able to make an exception this time, we won't be able to extend this courtesy in the future. To maintain the exclusivity of Gold membership, we do require
that you earn the required number of Status credits and
Eligible Flight Segments in your next membership year. "

That would most likely weaken the case. The key words are "eligible flights". I think QF would be more concerned with a projection for paid airfare revenue not award redemption.

That being said it is still worth a try and the worst that will happen is a soft landing to Silver.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If you are short by a small number of points (50 or so), do they still make you give them your travel plans?

Not sure where cutoff is applied. In this case approx 200 credits short & given opportunity to justify.
Re the original question, when supplying details of planned flights, no space or opportunity given for excuses/award flights etc, just space to list future flights.

RB,

As I posted quite some time ago, there does not seem to be any hard and fast rule. I retained WP with just 270SC a couple of years ago after offering a plausable explanation.
