Hi all,

I've got a trip planned in about 6 weeks that will see me maintain my Velocity Platinum status. My question is with regard to the extra Status Credits I earn after passing the 800 Status Credit hurdle.

My review date is 21/May/2016 and at this point I'll have earned exactly 800 Status Credits on May 11. Between then and the end of my trip on May 24, I'll earn an additional 390 Status Credits.

Does anyone have any experience with a similar situation? Will the 390 Status Credit excess go toward maintaining Platinum for another year or will I see them disappear into the mystical void that Velocity seems to shove Status Credits into for various reasons?

As always, thanks to all who reply.

As with QF and almost every other FF program on Earth, they will 'effectively' disappear. This is where lifetime status would be handy!

any SCs you earn after re-qualifying up to your re-qualifying date will be valid for 12 months from the date they're earned.
Effectively, the 390SCs are worthless- unless you make it up to 500SC by your review date- you could then gift Gold status to someone.
Ive been in the same situation for the last couple of re-qualifying years, so this year, my review date is end of July and ive already re-qualified, but will not make the additional 500sc required by then, to gift gold. So im now family pooling to my wife to get her to gold. Once ive achieved that, i'll then pool back to me. The last few years, ive been around 1100-1200SCs so should retain WP again July 2017.

Family pooling is the way to go,assuming you have a poolmate

Not just by the review date, they can go toward partner gold right up until they expire, of course if it's after the review date, theeveilmuppet would need to requal plat first though, but the option is there. I agree with the family pooling option or do as I am doing and fly QF/JQ and build that status as well. My spreadsheet now shows exactly 800 SCs each year (for the next few years that I've done) for VA as opposed to previous years where SCs were always burnt. Their loss.....my gain .

(VAs plan.......create indifference, they certainly did that, to their detriment! Astonishing plan!)
