I need 20 SC to retain gold by the end of the month. What's the cheapest award flight I can get for 20 SC?

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Where are you based, for instance the current Jetstar Hamilton Island sale will see a BNE based person doing a day return for $124 that will net 20SC and is minimal time away.

Ex MEL, Mildura or Devonport are is often the cheapest at short notice.

Still cost you up to $250.

[EDIT]
Sunday 11th, MEL 8am to Mildura with the turnaround can be booked for ~$230
[/EDIT]

Maybe just do MEL-ADL-MEL in a day. $178 and 20 status credits. Probably better to save the points if you can, as in my personal opinion YASAs aren't very good value. However this is my personal opinion.

If you wanted to do it, it'd probably be 16000 points plus some cash.

Or try an early finish in a tuesday and a quick run to LST with JQ using plus packs:

  • 16:45 PM, Tue, Mar 27, 2012

    to Launceston

I only wish that from KGI I had options like these.

I'd suggest the Adelaide option as at least it would be from the tullamarine airport.

Good luck getting your points!

See if you can find a cheap J* flight and then pay the extra few dollars to get SC's.

From Melb there would be a few options just don't use a price match then you can not get SC's.

Look at best points/SC for the buck......short term yes you only need 20 but I assume you are also going for LTG? Get the most you can, there are always higher goals to achieve as well.

Call qff stating that you are a loyal committed Qantas flyer who is short of small amount of sc due to unfortunately membership anniversary cut-off timing but nevertheless you have got lots of qantas flights planned (prepare a detailed programme showing sufficient sg sc earning). They will reward u a complimentary membership year.

This is not something I would rely on. It may work but I certainly would have a backup plan in place.

I am another that would not be relying on Qantas to grant me a complimentary Gold membership if 20SC short.
Take two flights and earn the 20SC, or more.

Given you need the credits this month the hassle-free MEL-ADL-MEL or MEL-SYD-MEL Qantas options would be best, albeit not the cheapest. With Jetstar you risk the SCs not posting for weeks on end and in the meantime you drop to Silver and have to go through the hassle of reinstating gold. With a Qantas branded flight the SCs will post within 24 hours.

IMO, not worth the hassle to save $50.

Also IMO, don't waste points for an ASA for this - just buy the tickets outright. Consider it $200 you need to spend for QC membership for this year.

Thanks all, the MEL-ADL-MEL looks like the best/cheapest option. I'm already on a complimentary year so I want to make sure I get all the required SCs.
