First up a big thanks to all the generous Aus frequent flyers out there who so willingly share their knowledge with this community. I have always found an answer to my many flying questions on this site and I really appreciate it.

Now for one quick question. I am planning to do my first status run to retain QF Gold. I have the latest QF double status credits offer. I need 360 status credits by June 30 to hit the mark.

I have decided to do a SYD-MEL-ASP-MEL-SYD JASA for 72,000 points and approx. $150 cash for 200 status credits which is 400 when doubled.

My question is: MEL-ASP QF 796 arrives at 11:00am. ASP-MEL QF 797 departs at 11:40am. Is this the same plane that they turnaround? Or would I be better off catching a later plane back from ASP to be sure I make the connection?

I would assume that it is the same plane.

Generally ASP is a drop/pick up spot.

ASP is about 15 min from the city.

The same plane has operated both flights this month.

Also, from Sydney there is at least one place you can get 200 SC on a JASA (400 with double SC) in one day for 48000 points + ~$240 in an 11 hour period.

Thanks everyone! DeKa - You saved me 24,000 points so a big thank you. Looks like I'll be heading north on my status run.
