Just throwing it out there i need 545 status credits to retain GOLD have not been flying half as much as last year so far......

I was going to do a AA First class SFO - LAX - SEA - LAX - SFO for 300 and i have a return MEL - AKL - LAX then SFO - SYD - MEL booked as well.

anyone think of a better way of getting about 450 odd status credit EX SFO in early oct....?

i was thinking return SFO - RDU via Dallas what is about 420 in INSTANT UPGRADE I think...?

Thanks!

LAX-DFW/ORD-TPA USD485 earns 210 SC's.
TPA-DFW/ORD-SFO USD631 earns 210 SC's.

Then dig up another 30 or so SC's.

Or:
LAX-ORD-MIA-BGI for USD660 earns 320 SC's.
BGI-MIA-ORD-SFO for USD780 earns 320 SC's.

Use www.centuryinthemaking.com for 10% discounts. (ex USA)

or try ONT-DFW-RDU-MIA-BGI for $629++. for 350 SC's.

ONT is in SoCal near LA.

How are you booking this? I am not able to get anything routing via RDU if I plug in ONT-BGI. I get ONT-DFW-MIA-BGI only. Are you booking it as a ONT-RDU-BGI sector (I only see ONT-DFW-MIA-BGI for the $629++)

*edit*
Can get ONT-DFW-MCO-MIA-BGI though for the same price. Not a bad deal and doable in a day (overnight) and then return.

Might need to consider this for my next run I think!

you can do as many transfers as you want when you book through an agent, can do lax-las-dfw-rdu-mia-bgi for example. i dont know if the AA website is capable of doing that or not? Of course the most creative and long routings do require overnights in airport hotels usually.

Down the bottom of the screen that offers the flights you will note multiple pages. I find the most intersting routes offered by AA come about page 3 or 4.

I have never tried this type of thing with an agent but can they see Y and K-up fares?

Yeah i'm no stranger to booking YUP fares ;)

I just didn't find the routing mentioned. I found some others but it had Y segments thrown in (A/Y/I).

Can easily use a TA, but you won't necessarily get the YUP/KUP fare.

I'll have to keep digging (and book shortly before the dollar crashes again!).

yes. i certainly can see them in sabre. but since they are no commission your travel agent will most likely charge booking fees.

The one I have is all A and I. The dates may matter and I was looking 16 Oct. page 3 of the results right down the bottom. This route also seems to require an overnight in RDU.

If you do this then go eat and The Pit in downtown Raleigh - amazing southern Carolinian food. Raleigh is also something of party town so you can actually have some good fun there. If that doesn't interest you then head to Chapel Hill (UNC) and catch a basket ball game.

I was looking end of NOV (22nd out of ONT) and didn't have it.

The other 4 segment one I found with a Y fare in it was also at the end (it sorts as least stops by default iirc). I'll have a dig around though. An overnight is ok, but I don't want to have to overnight at both ends or the value goes unfortunately. Was it an overnight in BGI as well?

Why dont you go and check out Barbados if you are flying all that way there? Surely a night or two in Barbados would be fun.

You might find by having a couple of overnights you can add in more sectors and therefore more SC's so it might be worthwhile.

Priced that up on Sabre for approx A$1539 return. Not bad. Brutal itinerary though. Have never done a YUP run for that reason, can't imagine spending that many hours in AA "F." Not to mention ONT is a little bit of a drive from LA.

You can do LAX-LAS-DFW-ORD-JFK-MIA-BGI on that fare. but it requires a couple of overnights I think from the last time i checked. If you go ex HNL you can do HNL-LAX-LAS-DFW-ORD-JFK-MIA-BGI and return for about $2000 return.

That's a hell of an SC run but would be brutal. Any idea how many SC's?

For USD 2000 return that is good times.

SFO-DFW-MIA-DFW-SFO is a good one and you can overnight at MIA airport - there is a hotel at the airport terminal which is rarer for US airports.
