Cancelled this card on 3rd March (after paying the baance in ful) and have a closure letter. Latest update for this card sent to Credit Simple was 7th March but still showing account as open when it is not. Submitted a correction but n reply. Banks really out to be reqyured to report closures in a timely manner.
cancelled mine in June 2019 and Credit Simple still doesn't show it as closed. Queried and they said it is correct. Credit Simple is only second tier anyway, I think, the banks don't go to them for credit checks.

Do PayPal transactions linked through this credit card go towards the minimum spend, if it's not a direct payment via the bank?

So I closed this card in March , but when I Iogged in to QFF today Isee a mysterios credit of 1500 St George Amplify points in May. I had already received points for my MArch spend so am perplexed.

All I can think of is that maybe there was some sort of bonus offer that has credited late (cant seen anything in my email)? Or someone has opened a fraudulent account.

Because access to internet banking is locked as soon as you cancel the card, I can't see what is happening, and statements were all online so I never was able to download a final statement.

Dont want to call St George in case it is happy coincidence.

Any ideas?

If customer service were straight, those points should stay now whatever the reason.

At least, that's how I'd operate a business. Probably I'd go bust, being way too nice. Shows why I don't run a business...

did you have any disputed transactions or was there a refund that went back onto the card after you'd closed the account? Because that seems to trigger an anomaly in their system and it may be the 10% birthday bonus (as piratematerial suggested), which is paid because their system thinks your card is 'active'.

Rough calculation excluding bonus points seems to these points equal 9% of spend before I cancelled the card, so think the Birthday bonus is the likley candidate. I wasnt expecting to get the birthday bonus as my birthday is late April and I cancelled in March; and obviously I never paid the annual card renewal fee in April because I cancelled.

Ive checked that no payments for the cancelled card ahve been deducted since May.

I see $99 when you select Qantas Rewards for the 60k

Hi,
I have a new StGeorge amplify qantas card.
I want to earn the 80K bonus and am buying a refundable QF fare SYD-SIN to attend a client function in December.
Refundable because I understand all the hassles over cancellations now and just wanted to get the money back if the flight never went ahead.
I was going to use StGeorge to pay for the fare .
My question is ,with this purchase , and I pass the $6000 needed for the bonus and receive the 80K in my QFF account, is there anyway the points can be taken back by StGeorge should the flight not go ahead and my card is refunded the cost of the fare knocking me back to below the $6000 spend lower limit?

I do think they have the capability to 'claw back' the points should you receive a refund.

Thank you,I think you are correct - here is QFF terms and conditions
9.1.3 Qantas Points will not be awarded in relation to any products or services that are cancelled, refunded or returned. Qantas Loyalty may cancel or deduct any Qantas Points that have been awarded in relation to cancelled, refunded or returned products or services.

I've had quite a few refunds over the years, but don't think I've ever had points clawed back.

If the card has been replaced because stolen or compromised, do they create a completely new account ? If so, do we still receive the bonus points?

No, the account is the same. Different card number for security reasons.
You can only get the bonus once.
Good try through!

Some of you might be very interested in this:

I have the Amplify Signature Qantas card and when I opened it this year (with 80k bonus), closed my previous Amplify Signature over 12 months ago. Not the case for a Business card. Never had an Amplify or Amplify Platinum card.

Last week, was told after enquiring about the lack of bonus points, that the Amplify Business card counts as an "Amplify" card and I would not get the bonus.
It is considered to be "Amplify issued" (this is the exact wording used) and the Business card doesn't have to be listed in the below reference specifically to be an excluded card.

The relevant line in the terms is here:

Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify, Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'll probably have to take it to AFCA.
