I noted there is still no priority queues from the Gold Coast on my Sydney flight yesterday :(

They do announce that Gold and Platinum can board any time but you need to basically push in to the general queue and to me at least it doesn't feel right. With a dedicated priority queue it is clear whats going on.

Priority Queues are not available at shared gate terminals, CNS is in the same boat.

And Adelaide isn't small. How hard can it be to have a shared priority queue marker behind the shared desk at the shared gate. There is still plenty of space for two queues side by side

It would not be hard if you did not have to deal with the airport owner and negotiate with your opposition, which is what is required. In real life its almost impossible, the same issues exist for Qantas and the scanners for the QFF cards at the gate.

The announcements at the Gold Coast have improved they do tell everyone else to stay seated and my flight last week saw 10 of us Platinum Golds and J fare pax board fisrt. Yes you do have to be quick as soon as they start the PA you need to be at the gate.

As much as I'd really like to see Priority Boarding at OOL, I don't see it happening all to soon.I didn't realise this, but apparently, OOL has a very high concentration of Platinums compared to other cities. Hopefully they will implement it when the lounge comes too.

When people say that Virgin/Jetstar share gates at Gold Coast airport, that isn't entirely true. What usually happens is gates 1&2 are for JQ, with 4,5 & 6 are used by Virgin. Gate 3 is used mostly by Jetstar, but I have taken a few Virgin flights from there.

I'm not sure of the process and what happens behind the scenes, but it would be very nice to at least have gates 4,5,6 fitted with PB lanes as they are usually only used by Virgin.

This would be especially handy since the entire 180 people onboard the flight start queueing the second their aircraft pulls up in front of the gate.

Priority Security? Well that's a whole different ball game, I'd love to see Virgin arrange something, but I can't see that happening anytime soon. Perhaps (I'm dreaming here) we can have direct entry security to the lounge. (Ala Sydney) It's certainly doable.

(Ps. I saw some construction workers above Hungry Jacks on Tuesday riping things out and doing other construction things.... Maybe a sign of something starting?)

I was told by a check-in agent at OOL a few weeks ago that the new lounge, with capacity for around 300 pax, is going in above one of the fast food places so that could be it.

VA have confirmed that their lounge will be built above Hungary Jacks and will open 1st Quarter 2012

There is still no building application showing on the airport website for this work yet

While that may be the case in terms of common practice, all the gates are common user contractually, so the approvals from other airlines etc are required, which is why it wont happen in the short term. This has also been mentioned on the QF thread with the same reasons why QF dont have it, seems its in the too hard basket. As an aside, its also why there is no priority screening, as the security is provided by the airport not the airline as is the case for a dedicated terminal (BNE has three security companies doing the screening).

I think I read TT are flying OOL-MEL (or ADL maybe) once more. What gates are they operating out of?

Ahh you have a good point. I've never seen a Tiger flight since they moved into the main terminal. So I couldn't tell you where they depart from. I'll have a glance next time I'm at OOL.

Flew JQ439 OOL-MEL today, out of gate 1. A Tiger jet was parked and was boarding out of gate 2.

Today Im just glad there is priority checkin at OOL.

Those frequent to Gold Coast will be surprised to hear the Virgin Australia checkin queue is all the way out the door.

(Off topic. But they just replaced all the Virgin Blue signs with nice new ones. )

That's nothing. I've seen much worse in BNE at the QF terminal! :)

As for OOL - haven't been to that airport since around 1995. I used to fly Ansett back in those days (not that I had a choice back then)

OOL is a horrid noisy barn, the floor isn't even level, I suspect so they can hose the place out  The priority queue is one thing but I just want the lounge opened ASAP as somewhere to hide from it all.

Couldn't agree more but unfortunately that will be a wait of between 4 to 6 months
