HI GUys

Have a flight next week Syd-Tokyo. Am selecting seats and the layout it gives me for the Prem Econ section is just rows 23-26 being 2 aisle 3 aisle 2seats. I havent seen this before and is a lot different to what the seat map usually looks like and also compared to what the return seat map is being Rows 29- 36 being 2 aisle 4 aisle 2 seats ???

Is something wrong with the seat map on outbound or is this a standard config?

My flights are QF21 on Monday 26th Sep and QF22 on 7th Oct

Take the 2-3-2 seats, that layout is the Skybed layout, so you may be lucky and end up having Skybed seat, with PE service.

Sometimes you get a Business Class cabin when a 4 class aircraft is being old as 3 class. So enjoy it - a SkyBed!

Yup J pax can select F seats and W pax can select J seats. Enjoy the trip!

I flew tokyo to Sydney on Friday night / Saturday morning just gone

I was on a classic award y ticket and when given my boarding pass (whilst transiting terminal 1 to 2 in Tokyo), the Japanese lady at the desk who wasnt even a Qantas employee explained she had found me a better seat

turned out this was a skybed 2-3-2 layout, with economy service (not premium economy)

not sure why I got the upgrade as I dont think the plane was anywhere near full, the small section I was in was not even 50% full

The PE seats in the A380 are 2X3X2 and they are not sky beds.

The aircraft concerned is a 744; QF don't fly 388's to Japan.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I am on QF22 next weekend back to SYD and didn't realise this, seat choice rapidly updated

True, however the PE seat numbers on an A380 are not 23-26 and they don't fly the A380 to Tokyo, so what the OP appears to be on is a 4 class 747 where the lower deck business class section is being sold as premium.

.
I did notice that OJD did make a trip to NRT the other day. How long is it before it replaces the 333's on 581/582 as I am not sure if the 744 is back loaded on to the system for the domestic ops after AJ's announcement re the 747 and PER-SYD rotation.

Indeed - maybe QF need some more capacity after all?
