Hi- looking for some advice from all you knowledgable ff out there.
We are travelling from Perth via Singapore to London with Qantas next Thursday 25th ( 3 adults, 1 three yo and 1 three month old). The flights and seats (bulkhead with bassinet for the wee one) were booked back in June and now that the plane has been changed from the A380 to a 747 we no longer have any seats booked. I have had no email from Qantas regarding these changes and just happened to look at the booking this afternoon. I called Qantas regarding this and was told the best that they could do was seat us together in a row of 4 without the access to the bassisnet . Is there anything that I can do to ensure we get the bulkhead with bassient or am I going to have to lump it?
Thanks in advance

Checkin early. You will pick the 747 up in Singapore? You will receive your boarding passes in Perth for that sector.

What status do you have?

Agree with sprucegoose. Check in early and ask again. Never hurts to ask. Goes without saying that the more polite you are, the more chance you have of succeeding.
Other than that, you need to be aware that Qantas would not want to have their A380s grounded any more than you. Sometimes things happen.
But definitely ask again when checking in. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ring up Qantas again as well. I have received different responses from different people within an hour of calling.
For instance last night, I was quoted an extra $5k for my wife and I to upgrade to Y+ and then tried again half an hour later and was offered $4k by a totally differnt person.

Hi Stocks100 and :):)welcome to AFFF:):)

I'd agree with the early check in as a general rule, although your disadvantage flying out of PER may be that people out of SYD and MEL may leave earlier and have the jump on you.

The other thing you could try to do is check the available seating at T-80 when more seats get released.

Cheers skip

Qf71 still has 23jk available (blocked).

Poster doesn't state onward flights I assume he's on QF 9 row 63 is blocked. There are also 2 seats in row 58. So he should call and request that, which will be most likely released at airport. Ask if seating can make a note against booking and notes.

On QF 31 rows 58 and 63 are all blocked and available.

So you are not stuffed until that bird rotates and you are not where you want to be. Even then there's hope!

One point is if you are stuffed it is RR who is stuffing you.

Also it is impossible to say you are stuffed until you are on the flight. Recently I flew from Nadi to Sydney and checked in and got my boarding pass for 1A but when I went to board I had been changed to 2K to make way for a couple with a baby. The only thing that annoyed was that I now had a non-bulkhead window, after much complaining at the gate they gave me 6J an aisle exit row so only a little annoyed but such is the lot of single people being moved around.

Also is it possible for Qantas to tell you how many is any more babies there are on the flight? That could also have a bearing on your luck.

Our family is on QF9 ex-MEL on the 25th and as of a couple of days ago the bassinette seats were being blocked out for likely use by family with baby - I know because we were in a bassinette row but were unable to bring a 4th person to sit with us as it would have taken up the bassinette position...so there is hope!

And perhaps we'll run into you in SIN - we'll be the slightly exhausted, harried looking bunch (probably not talking to each other by thern....)
