This morning made my first redemption via the SQ telephone service for a return flight on AirNZ BNE-AKL-SYD in November.

The initial call centre menu took a bit of work, had some issues keying my KF number and PIN over Skype. Went through to an operator whom took down my requirements, passenger names etc.

Called me back 20 minutes later with the required flights ready to pay. Taxes worked out as per a previous request I'd made for the taxes. Flight went through at 35K pts for J.

I did consider trying to add on a TG flight SDY - BNE but the flight was at midnight and it didn't sound like a very attractive home coming option after a romantic anniversary getaway.

Also yesterday I put my first call into the Concierge service. Once again they called back at the allotted time with the info I needed. Also emailed the suggestions to me.

So good positive experience so far with Krisflyer.

Pity the discount does not apply for phone bookings.

Enjoy your trip.;)

I thought the promo runs out in sept.
Anyway I to have only had good experiences when booking 3 Jcl returns to LHR on 2 seperate occasions. One on the internet and one via redemption centre when internet was down. And yes they gave me the 15% discount

My redemption was for AirNZ. I wasn't expecting the discount but happy to have no fuel fines.

NoW, to start the dream for Europe redemption. The award savers are still available into AMS. How to get enough time off.

Yes...as one can book 350 days out I have just booked 2 J's Savers online on consecutive days for 4 in total.

I booked 3 weeks ago to fly into Manchester rather than LHR to get Savers. Onlne was down and so booked via phone and gained the 15%.

We are all leaving MEL together but then 2 are overnighting in SIN as one can only normally get 2 J savers ata time to Europe. as I have no SQ status...I did not want the uncertainty of booking the extra 2 on a waitlist and chose to fly on consecutive days instead.

Yes there are fuel fines...but J return for only 127K is good value.

Note part of the reason to fly out of Amsterdam is the high departure taxes one now has to pay to fly out of the UK.

.

Especially when you consider QF charge 128k for a return economy trip!!!

Given SQ have AMEX 1.5 per $ and Visa 1:1 in the Aussie market it really is a no brainer.

I also just cashed in a South Pac J reward with NZ SYD-AKL-RAR-AKL-RAR for 35k in J - a QF Y award to AKL would have been 38k ret

I think auriga was referring to the 15% discount for online bookings. The 10th anniversary promotion with 25%-50% discount for online bookings ends in September.

If I understand the terms and conditions correctly either way the discount applies to SQ or Silk Air flights only.

Are you flying on the 777-200 into manchester? what are the seats like in Jcl. I have been in the 747-400 when they used to run them into LHR but now the 777ER and 380's are the only way to LHr

Westpac-KF amex has 3 per $ until end Oct 09. Indeed, SQ seems so much better than QF with redemption. Unfortunately, I am not able to take advantage of 50% offers valid to end-Sep.

Hi. Sorry for the delay as I have only just read your question.

Yes the 200 which I believe is fitted with the Spacebeds. Though MEL-SIN is on the A380 (obtained as a Saver as was booked as the 744, but SQ have changed planes).

Yes I agree that the 744, A380 and 777 300 ER are all better....but I am content to book Savers as they are half the point cost.

This means to Europe limiting my destinations to those Airports that have Savers. However this suits my purposes for now. So London direction is not an option for me.

This time round flying into England and out of another country avoided the hefty new departure taxes.

MAN to London to Paris via the Chunnel and then eventually out of AMS after catching a train will make a good 3 week trip for us.

However on some future J trips to Europe will look at booking on other *A as a Partner Award via SQ at a cost I believe of 150K. As I understand that fuel fines will be lower the extra 13K will be in part offset by this.

Also there are various rumours that SQ will start Saver Awards on their newer planes in the not too distant future.

Rumours or wishful thinking?

I've heard lots about it, but nothing solid enough to suggest SQ are budging... I sure hope they do though. I'm earning KF miles at a massive rate on the new KF cards.

I picked up a return first class saver ticket to shanghai for the expo in may 2010. The plane is a refurbished 777-300 but it does have the 8 seat config similar to the 777-300er. Got the tip off from SQ Talk that these seats were available. Saver 1st Class awards on refitted B777-300A - SQTalk
