Hi All,

I am going to be making a J Booking BKK to Mel (x Syd) on QF Return originating in BKK. Have not flown this for some time and use to fly it back with the 744's on it but now its a a330-200 it seems?

THe QF website says sky bed on selected international services, so i enter 20th Oct QF 24 BKK - SYD and EF is saying it is the recliner seat?! Not a Sky bed?! Is this an error on EF or have Qantas actually dropped this to a domestic like plane? If so, it seems JQ wins here as i can get direct to MEL and have the same seat for less?!?!

Anyone had any experiences?

It looks like the international config to me on EF. The 2-0-2 on row 23, followed by 2-4-2 on row 24 seems to match up with International config (skybeds).

This is what makes me nervous, the seat review.

Look at the seat map for economy section on EF. If there are seats in rows 36-43 then it is a domestic A330-200 with recliners in J. If there are no economy rows in that range then it is an international A330-200 with Skybeds in J.

I have had a few international flights this year that were originally scheduled to be 200s, but were changed to 300s a few days out from departure. It seems Qantas is juggling its A330s around based on loads.

Well what ever i did there didnt work. Ummmm.

Well the seat review says Class Business, Seat Type: Recliner, Review :Seats are standard business class seats.

Look at the J Cabin, if it has two sections of 3 rows each, it is Skybeds.

Just looked and Business cabin is rows 1 - 6 and Economy is Rows 23-35 and 45-58 with row 23 having 2 - 0 - 2.

So i guess i can assume this is just a EF error and it will be sky bed?

I was sure they wouldnt put recliners on this, especially as they code share with BA to LHR dont they? And i cant see many people impressed flying from London to be put on a QF Recliner?

Guess its safe to book then ?

EF doesn't show 'mini-cabin' breaks...just the seat rows as if there are no galleys etc. richie9x's post also supports the the presence of skybeds on this flight.

It certainly is misleading, but I suspect it is an error. If you wanted some reassurance, you could maybe find some other 332 international routes and check set maps/review on those. If they all say recliner then it probably means they have made a blue. Alternately, check seatguru, which indicates skybeds for this configuration.

There is no way QF would put recliners on this route. It is simply not going to happen. Personally if I got on board and was faced with a recliner I would getting off, going back to the F lounge and requesting a transfer to a proper carrier. It simply isn't going to happen.

Never say never. QF have deployed the domestic 330's on international routes within the last year or so when the need has been there.

It may be very rare, but it has happened.

Like 767s turning up between PER & SIN  (Don't think it has happened for a while though......)

Really? Which routes?

Surely though they wouldn't be planning a substitution now for late October.
it was certainly skybeds in July.

It's not really an expert flyer error - it's from the rather inadequate SeatGuru where thay can't tell the difference between an international and a domestic configured Qantas 322.

(Of course, with E/F promulgating the SeatGuru information, they need to take some of the blame.)

Due to this unreliability I simply have the "Turn Off Pop-ups" selected as I generally know more about QF/DJ aircraft configurations and layouts than SeatGuru ever would.

Seatguru certainly knows the difference in seatguru...must be something lost in the translation/migration to EF!

Just purchased the tickets, platinum agent told me they use the a330-200 and a330-300 on this route and he was certain it is always a sky bed but of course, no guarantee.

went on to booking online and it showed the 2 mini cabins, grabbed a middle aisle row 1, cant complain! Just now have to pray they don't get any ideas and put a recliner on as an Enhancement!

I hve a return leg to Singapore already booked then transferring to Bangkok. So my itineary is originating in BKK rerun to Mel so it was only $2300 J return. Can't complain with that, seeing as $4300 return starting from Mel!
