SYD Check-in times?

I travled on DJ54 last night on a NZ ticket. I went to go check-in 3hours before the flight as per what the virgin site says.

Yet to find that it didn't open till 90minutes beforehand, is this normal for DJ at SYD?


It was crazzy they had around 140 passengers waiting anhour for staff to turn up

Our DJ website plus what is on your itinerary, will say at least 90 mins prior.
Though our V Australia website (international) says, we'll be ready and waiting to check you in 3 hours before scheduled departure time."
If you've completed a flight from say, LAX, I could see where the confusion would be (though maybe the 140 pax weren't all codesharing to NZ?)
Could you maybe provide a bit more detail via a PM?

IMHO, that page is really poor - and contradictory. While defined check-in opening time needs to be published on the web site as well as mentioned on one's "Itinerary" - it is illogical that the earliest time for check be the same as the time stated to be checked-in by.

What are your agents going to do? Check all 140+ pax in at once?

On the pacifcblue website it says check-in opens 3hours beforehand, also my NZ e-ticket says check-in closes 90minutes before hand!
