Howdy all....

Suggestion of SYD Drinks on Wed 23 October - perhaps at Hilton or nearby..... 6pm-ish.......

Followed by F Lounge JQ35 on Thurs 24th for those who can make it a work trip ;)

Thought it worthwhile to split the events as I imagine some will make it more easily to drinks than JQ35.

Just a bump.......

So we'll do SYD drinks on the 23rd Oct as part of the PRE-DYKWIA JQ35 trip (on the 24th).

I'll start another thread for drinks/dinner in MEL on the 24th.

I should be able to make the drinks/dinner on 23rd. Will have to wave to everyone from the office across the road from the terminal on the 24th...

Might be able to make the drinks (Place of Employment rosters depending).

I will probably meet you guys at SYD on 24th. Now trying to book a QF ex CBR flight with JQ35 together in the same itin.

I've ran this by dfcatch, and thought I'd present my ideas on the itinerary for the evening. Given the number of events I've missed recently I thought I must make it along to this one (unfortunately I cannot make JQ35 on Thursday).

As some of you know, I live very close to the city. It's about a 20 minute stroll to the Hilton (or a $12 cab fare). If you know where the Coca Cola sign is or the Holiday Inn, Mercure or Diamant in Potts Point then you at least know roughly where my building is :)

I also have a rather sizeable balcony by Sydney standards (although haydensydney's is bigger ). There's bench seating and a table for 6, plus more chairs and another table that could be moved out. There's also plenty of standing room and the doors open into my living room with couches.

So, from about 6pm on the 23rd who would be interested in joining me on my balcony for some drinks, nibbles and to chat about travel, points and whatever else takes our fancy?

Sunset is due for 7:15pm on October 23rd, so at 7:30pm (or 8:00pm) we could then go next door to (Hugos Bar Pizza | Hugos). As a local resident I have a card that provides 50% off pizzas which are arguably the best around (and of course the full menu is available).

After what will no doubt be a delicious dinner, we'll call it a night or perhaps adjourn for a nightcap somewhere.

I'm happy to pick up a couple of cases of beer and cider along with some wine and assorted finger food to hold us over until dinner. There also a Liquorland in the building next door if you want anything special (and I do have about 2L of Hendrick's in my cupboard if I'm in a good mood :D).

Last Sunday's balcony drinks:

Thank you to Ewing for his incredibly generous offer.

I'm told he has received approval from the cat as well :)

I think it's a great plan and perhaps nice to have it as a SYD type meet without having to worry about Hilton guesting issues.

Thanks again Ewing.

I have made a note in my diary. Will see what the work situation is and I might be able to stroll along from Double Bay.

I think I will be in sydney this night but not 100 sure percent but am very willing to attend this drinks if I am in Sydney this night so is it open that I cam come to this if I am in Sydney this night?

Thanks for the very generous offer Ewing.

Unfortunately I will probably be in the DPRV for work, but look forward to catching you in Sydney soon :)

Sounds excellent.

Yes of course. I look forward to hearing all about the Air Koryo frequent flyer program!

As we get closer to the date I'll start confirming numbers and provide details to those coming via PM.

Thanks for the very generous offer Ewing.

I'll hold you to that. If you don't come up soon, I may just be tempted to fly down for a lunch at Donovans and drag you along!

That sounds extremely civilised for the 23rd. I'm not sure building security would let me in, but I have no other plans for the night. I believe is was suppose to shout some drinks for the night, I'll PM to coordinate.

I don't know about jq35. Depends if I'm ready for the audit the following week or not.

If my roster ends at Central, I might rock up. I finish work around 2100 - 2130.

Evening all.

There is a decision to be made, and that's if we go out for dinner or if we decide to order in. If we go out then I'll probably need to make a reservation over the next few days.

If you're coming, would it be possible to fill out this quick form:
Catch Up Drinks Survey

That'll give me some numbers and do some organising :)

Survey completed. I'm happy to go with the Pizza suggestion as mentioned in the post. Thanks for the offer of hosting the night Ewing: I look forward to meeting a few more people from the forum. Preferably, I'll be catching the train in from Mascot... how's easiest to get to there? Arrival time for me will depend on when I get away from work (usually around 6ish). I probably won't make it a long or late night... constantly switching back and forth to Daylight saving time is taking it's toll at the moment.
