SYD - LAX return NZ J < $4500

Was on sky scanner looking at some flight options for Aug 2017 and noticed NZ had a pretty awesome deal for business class for under $4500

Lowest I found for QF (direct) was $5869. ANZ flies via AKL which can be quite so so if time is of the essence.

Recently booked the "AA match" fare NZ offered... AKL-LAX vv for $3400....

Could hardly believe that...

Do you have to put in specific/dummy dates? I've tried using skyscanner for my multi city ticket and they would only show fares for Y when I use the cheapest month option.
