I confess to being a lurker... and just recently introduced to the world of Qantas FF... and I've found this site tremendously helpful... so thank you in advance to all for their assistance... I hope my questions aren't too tedious for the old-timers... but here goes...
I've used points to fly SYD-LAX-SJD-LAX-MLB-SYD in economy (gasp!)
On both flights to LAX I see from viewmytrip.com that I've been given the same seat there and back - is there anyway a lowly bronze ff can ask for a specific/different seat?
What is regarded as a 'good' seat in economy? Near the front? Aisle? and why?
Has anyone flown the LAX-MLB direct flight before? I hasn't realised when it was booked that it's over 15 hours duration...
Any advice would be appreciated!

Welcome rookie

Have a look at Lindsay Wilson's Ultimate Qantas guide (on this site).

There is a link to a site called seat guru which gives opinion on seats.

Cheers

As I was typing this, I've notice MetroAir's comment which was exactly what I was going back to get - see my post #3 in The ULTIMATE Qantas Guide (under the Qantas Frequent Flyer heading, it's the only "sticky" there). Here's the link for Seat Guru

Also, I'm sure you meant to type MEL (airport code for Melbourne Tullamarine, Vic, Aust) and not MLB (Melbuorne Regional, Melbourne, Florida). Enough to make me smile

As there is generally only about 30% of seats allocated to general public prior to close-off until departure day, you'll want to be quick. Exit rows probably will be blocked-off and unaccessible to you. But forward seats should still be OK.
