Trying to fly SYD to LHR in J in November 2015, away for 4 weeks with a party of 7 (includes two kids under the age of 5).

Travel dates are flexible. Happy to look at 2 or 3 pax in first, balance of the group in business on the same flight.

I have adequate points banked in AMEX and I am am member of Velocity (VA), Krisflyer (SQ) and Qantas FF (QAN).

Preferred plan is trying to get 5 seats on points and pay for two seats. Wish to fly with first tier airlines only. Willing to join other FF programs, such as Cathay Pacific, who accept points transfers from AMEX.

Any comments or words of advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Can you be me more explicit with your dates? If you can travel early November it will be easier.

Given that there's no discount in points required for children redemptions, I'd suggest paying for 3 (One adult and 2 kids) and using points for 4.

It would be a good idea to list who your Tier 1 airlines are and whether there are any no-fly airlines too e.g would you consider Finnair or Malaysian?

Do you want to stopover at all? How many stops are you prepared to accept?

As greenfish asked - is MH an option? It will be by far and away the easiest option. SYD-KUL is on the 330 (only angle flats, but fine for day flights), but KUL-LHR is on the 380.

You could even do all 7 seats on points depending on the dates - for example- out 2/11/15 back 2/12/15 = 714,00 Enrich miles + $8,276.98.

Thank you for the replies.

We need to be in LHR by 8th OCT and wish to leave week commencing Monday 2nd Nov.

MH is out, family is rattled and don't want to fly MH, although the value is amazing.

The airlines that we would like to fly are:

* Singapore.
* Cathay
* Qantas
* Emirates.
* Ethiad / Virgin.
* Thai
* Air New Zealand

Hi R36snowbound

Finnair is out? As that'll be the best J cash deal and I'd rate as better than Thai, particularly with their new A350s coming on stream. Are you prepared to stopover in Asia?

Hi Greenfish,

Finnair is a possibility, happy to stop over in Aisa in both ways.

How would I get points from AMEX to Finnair?

Finnair is Oneworld, so you'd most likely redeem Qantas rewards if there is availability (which will be the real problem).

You should also consider BA and Qatar as other Oneworld options.

I'm having a quick look now, the cash fare on AY is under $5000, which is pretty good really. Ex BKK, the AY fare is somewhere around AUD2600.
