This fare is also available during the September school holidays for about $880 all in to LAX or JFK. Other US destinations are also available for a little more.

The fare is only available to agents as it's an private IT fare and is NOT on AA's site.

All AA international fares are MPM and not routed fares and therefore that means you can literally go nuts with this fare.

As long as your 'destination' is NYC you can put a stopover anywhere in the continental US both ways for the price of the NYC fare.

Example for the September school holidays (destination JFK, with PHX stopovers in both directions):

This flight plus the status challenge would get you AAdvantage Gold/Platinum (one world Ruby/Sapphire) in a single return flight.
It appears the $737 fares are all gone though.
