Hi all,

I had a friend on the DJ553 this morning, who was affected by the A330 tech problems in Perth last night and so ended up on a 737. He was travelling in business class so I was under the impression that even with the sub, they were going to keep the business class service (after all, the 737 he ended up on, VH-YIA, did have a business cabin). He told me the service was PE, and that he ended up having to choose from the menu during breakfast, and was told by the manager that there was no business service on the 737 yet. He was really looking forward to experiencing the business class service and is pretty disappointed missing out on all the trimmings especially after all the publicity surrounding the new coast to coast service.

My question is what is VA's policy when something like that happens (I presume it does not happen too often)?

Thanks in advance for all your answers!

Wonder why they didn't provide full J service??? Seems odd, they really need to refund the $700 odd difference between PE and J

I assume it was because the 737's aren't yet equipped for it (menu/ facilities wise) - it doesn't actually start until end of September.

If it was one of the new ones delivered with J, why wouldn't it be configured appropriately. It was delivered as all the others are being configured... Maybe the 737 crew havn't had J training or something simple like that... Do A330 FAs also crew 737 and or ERJ?

Because the 737's would not yet have the catering, linen, etc etc etc loaded or ready to be loaded because the service isn't on sale yet. The new Luke Mangan meals, etc are probably not yet loaded/ designed/ prepared for the 737 galleys and the staff were probably not yet ready to serve/ prepare it even if it was. I can't imagine it would be a simple matter if the service doesn't exist yet.

Ha! Ex-Aff Member Misha had this same problem this morning. Bought a J ticket and ended up on a 737. You'd think they would offer full J service, but they didn't.

I'd like to know what the compensation they will offer. I think he's calling the Platinum desk tomorrow.
