SYD - PER return A332 or A333?

Hi all,
i have a few sydney perth return flights coming up in feb & march. will be travelling in Y. any recommendation if i should give preference to the A330-200 or A330-300 sectors?
 
For a little while now the widebodies has either been 767s or A332.

Haven't seen A333 for a while.

In Y I would try for the newer A332 with new IFE.

If you can find a A333 then request upgrade has it has skybed in J

They do the run on a regular basis to help with aircraft rotation, QPC did a run to BNE after returning from SIN on Thursday, QPE did a run from SYD on the same day, now that more A380s have arrived the pressure on the fleet is relaxed to some extent so you should them on a regular basis.
 
anyone know if there are any 747's doing rotations on DOM duties?


There were a few doing the PER trip over the Sept school holidays but the A380 issue meant no repeats these holidays, and of course from May you will have a BNE-SYD service three days a week on a ER :lol::lol:.

On the original subject, QF announced late this week scheduled A333 ops for Melbourne according to Qantas Source:

QANTAS have announced an extra 4 x Perth - Melbourne return flights per week to be operated by International configuration Airbus A330-300s. These are:
QF772 Perth 1050 - Melbourne 1625 Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun
QF773 Melbourne 1745 - Perth 1950 (1955 Sun) Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun
On Mondays the aircraft comes from QF77 Perth - Singapore and Monday’s QF72 Singapore - Perth not operating.
On Wednesdays and Fridays the aircraft will come from the QF68 from Hong Kong departing again as QF67 to Hong Kong.
Aircraft provision for the Sunday flight is not yet clear.

I would shoot for the A332 if travelling in Y as well. The IFE is better on the domestic A332's than on the int config A333's.
(Having just done an A333 followed by an A332 flight it is noticeable)

There was an A333 on the 28th Dec going PER-SYD when I was flying back to MEL.. For a minute I thought it was going to MEL, but alas we in a 332!
 
I would be in agreement with the other responses in saying that the A330-200 would be the best bet, as you're either bound to get one with the RC AVOD system (International A330 with Skybeds in J) or one of the new domestic-configured A330-200s with the Panasonic eFX AVOD system (what is found on the A380s).

For those that are interested, until 23MAR, Qantas are operating A330-300s on BNE/PER/PER on QF597/QF650. Certainly makes a nice change from the usual 737-800s and 767-300s and as A330s are rare on trans-continental services from Brisbane.

Still trying to sus this one out... I'm heading off to Perth next week, just for the weekend (friday to sunday) from either BNE or SYD, 100% trying to avoid the new a332. Especially when traveling in J. Would there be an a333 in the air?

Is there some kind of magic crystal ball to find out aircraft movements? I've noticed some members have this power, so I am very intrigued.

Please forgive this novices first post.

The Timetables for Qantas, QantasLink, Jetstar and codeshare flights for both routes on those days are currently 333-free zones. Lots of 332s between SYD and PER though! And there's always the possibility of aircraft substitution in any event.
