Hi brainstrust, I am in the very early planning stages of hopefully a month skiing with the family in Canada in January 2025. Yes it's looking a long way ahead! But I need to have everything lined up to make it happen. There generally appears to be plenty of availability for 4 x economy reward seats SYD-SFO. But what I would like to do is SYD-SFO-YVR, but can't seem to make it work. It never seems to show the United SFO-YVR flight, even though they seem to have 7 flights a day. At 44,800 and $120 a person this is the main reason for wanting to force the route on United and not the Air Canada route which is often through Brisbane.

Anyone have any insight in to adding a NA connector flight to the transatlantic? Or somehow forcing it in the booking engine? Will I have any luck calling instead?

It seems to be working fine.

e.g. I chose 16 Jan, Syd-YVR, for 4. It offered 2 p.m - 9:18 p.m., totalling 269,200 points.

If you're not seeing that on the day you're looking for, it's likely due to availability (which means calling won't help). That said, being ready to get as soon as released may mean you can get it before sold - but that depends if they are released if you are looking at peak travel i.e. around the holidays.

Ah great. That's a long layover! It must be availability on the SFO-YVR route (even when searching 1 seat) just isn't that plentiful. Seems to be plenty of availability on the SYD-SFO flight.

Yes travelling in peak school holidays, hence the planning ahead so I am ready to pull the trigger immediately when available.

Appreciate you having a look at this.
