hi all

i have just become a member of the AFF*community*and are looking forward to*contributing*if i can add anything.

i need to fly sydney shanghai 4 times over the next few months and would*appreciate*some advice on the most*efficient*method "if*possible" to*accumulating*SC's with the view of*achieving*gold,*have a couple of flights to melbourne as well.

all fights are economy.

FYI have had*success*with hyatt on the bund and grand hyatt in shanghai for under 1000RMB thanks to AFF

double tree pudong 820 RMB with breakfast and have been upgraded to suite as gold HH 4 times

regards

if you have the double promo-I would do 129/130 directly as 140 SC for $1100 is the upper limit of what I would pay, and saves time.

however to max SC earn, I would do syd-mel-hkg-pvg -hkg - mel-syd on qf/ka/cx. Note that pvg-hkg sectors don't earn anything- but do you do get 80Sc (160 for 2x promo) and ¬1200 more points for same sort of price. presuming you're travelling around july peak.

Can I ask where you find the accomodation offers in hyatt?

Can you please elaborate on the not earning on the PVG-HKG sector?

I thought it was fare class dependent, not being on KA itself? However costing is an issue I do believe.

a dummy booking for travel between hkg -pvg can be on cx/ka/hx.

Generally sale fares and the lowest yielding Y cabin classes are excluded -is this a OW feature - can someone shed some more light?

I found fares to be similar ¬1100 AUD for direct and the multi leg choices.

IME points and SC's are still given even on the lowest of CX fares, inc between HKG - PVG...
CX \ KA award points at 50% normal value for discount Y fares provided you are in fare class
B \ H \ K \ L \ M \ V. From memory you will nett 5 SC's on a discount fare each way.

I have quite a few CX flights that don't earn, generally they are the same as the ones identified as not earning Asia miles.

I think you mean 15 SCs each way :)

I have had quite a few flights on KA/CX which do not earn SCs or points, but these have always been purchased directly from CX/KA as separate add-ons. So I don't know if all through fares sold via QF automatically book into one of the points earning classes?

thanks for your help and*guidance*unfortunately*i have not been blessed with the double*status*promotion so it looks like a hard slog.

have some time on my hands and due to depart around end of april so would consider a*marathon*to*achieve*some sc's any*suggestions?*

pmdg7444 hyatt codes are on ft and when i stayed at grand hyatt i was working for a computer company and hyatt on the bund a car manufacture. if this helps.

can offer my contact at hilton if you require.

apologies*to all for cross contamination of the thread.

regards
