SYD to MNL return in Y A$357

From March to Aug this year: - Sydney, Australia to Manila, Philippines for only $357 AUD roundtrip (& vice versa for $239 USD)

Never heard of the airline (Cebu Pacific) but very cheap positioning flight, should be able to get to LHR return in J from MNL for ~$2000-2500 with various oneworld airlines

Cebu Pacific is an ULCC. 9 abreast (16.5 inch), 30 inch pitch, for a total of 436 seats on their A330s.

Surprising - it's a reasonable size in Asia and flies to many destinations from MNL or CEB in particular, and is the largest airline in Philippines.

However, the aircraft has one – two inches more legroom compared to Cebu Pacific and it also features a small premium cabin with business class seating including lie-flat beds. Unlike Cebu Pacific's tightly packed 436 seat aircraft, AirAsia X only carries 377 seats.

9 across in economy is not a huge problem. SQ has that config on long haul.

Any LCCs scare me long haul and tend to avoid MNL thanks to the various scams around. Yes most won't be affected but I don't like my luck of someone finding a live bullet in my carry on bag. Government doesn't care so that counts me out.

It is when you put it on an a330! (sq's a330s are 2-4-2 like QF). Air Asia also does the 3-3-3 on an a330. Haven't heard anyone loving it

It may not be an issue in Y, however the A330 isn't designed to sit 9 across.

Are you sure? I'm sure I have sat in SQ A330 with 3-3-3 layout. Am I mistaken?

business is 2-2-2, economy 2-4-2. Their 777s are 3-3-3 however.

Air Asia X 330 is bareable (just) but as well as being 3x3x3 Cebu Pacific is only 30" pitch rather than 32" on AirAsiaX
