Doh - sorry - I saw the other cheap fares but missed this one! Even got availability over new year :)

Don't ask me why and I will probably regret it but I booked 3 Qantas returns OOL-SYD and 6 Virgin returns OOL-SYD for the grand total of $810 or $90 per return or $45 per flight.

Heck it costs ~$13 to go from Central to BNE airport so these airfares are a bargain.

Back to $99 on Qantas website now and I think the usual OOL-SYD airfare on Virgin website is $75. It will be interesting to see how low the "normal" sale airfares will go.

But does that include baggage? What is the point of going to the Gold Coast (unless it is for a status run - fair enough) without baggage :p

At least the $48 was all inclusive! With bags and something to nibble/eat as well! The extra $9 was worth it!

Availability of cheap flights over New Years however is pretty good!

Obviously for status folk, baggage will be included.

Have to wait and see what the QF catering is like, but one thing is that it's not a Cityflyer!

Maybe they'll do a "Gold Coast inspired" menu...

Clive Palmer Burgers (weighing half a tonne)
Meter Maid coughtails

And instead of flying in on a Dreamliner, it'll be a DreamworldLiner

;)

who needs baggage for domestic flights at all  unless you're a shopper-holic or moving house of course :)

recommend watching "up in the air" for ryan bingham's thoughts on checked baggage on domestic flights!

A lady must have multiple options to choose from before leaving the hotel room... ;)

Seriously, I have travelled Australia as well as Internationally for my sport before and I need to have checked baggage, even for short weekends - because other then the extra weight the sporting equipment takes up, one also have to factor in trying to get metal studded boots past security isn't really a great idea!

On Qantas baggage is included and unless the rules change baggage will be included for me on VA flights until at least August 2014! ;)

People who commute and live in a hotel room and can't be bothered washing/ironing or spending extra money on dry cleaning! :p
