Hi All,

Does anyone here know if it's the refitted economy seats (leatehr slimline) for this route? I don't think it has business class it only has Y and W class.

Cheers,
K.

(They are cloth allround. Does that help?)

Edit:

Sorry k3nnis, I've mislead you... Assumed you meant QF not DJ. Teach me to read better on a 2 inch screen. I'm no help at all!

It all depends on when you fly.

I've flown in and out of ZQN a number of times and i've never had any turbulence. Others however have been diverted to Dunedin after several go-arounds due to wind sheer / wind + rain / turbulence.

If it worry's you, pack some Xanax

oh ok :) I am ok with a bit of turbulence. Just that I am taking my wife and a 21 month old daughter :) I am going in mid november so not sure what the weather will be like during that time :)

ZQN is a tough airport in terms of bad weather, with the setup they have (airport in a narrow valley with mountains around), pilots can get into trouble. Thankfully there haven't been a lot of incidents (due mainly I think to appropriate caution being used) but it could be nasty. I still don't think they have night lights so they only operate during daylight hours.

There was an "incident" with DJ89 a couple of years ago (it happened a few days before we were due to leave on the same flight) but to be honest sounded like much ado about nothing.

I wholeheartedly recommend getting a window seat as the view on the ride in (in more than out) is spectacular, especially when there's snow on the mountains.

Love Queenstown! Make sure you get Fergburger at least once! *drool*

Appropriate disciplinary action was taken and it was always a bit iffy about what the issues actually were.
I was in Queenstown (skiing) the day it happened, we were due to fly out DJ89 a few days later, it was covered heavily on the news at the time.
The weather wasn't good (visibility was poor, but it wasn't (or at least I don't remember it being) windy) and there were issues on the ground that caused them to leave just after a self-imposed curfew.
The airline maintained at the time that there were no issues with the flight but a few passengers put their hand up and said that they felt the takeoff wasn't normal, but that was all.

I wouldn't hesitate to fly based on that incident, and I'm kindof sorry I mentioned it if it's going to drive you the other way. If they'd have left 4 minutes earlier then there wouldn't be any newsworthiness, aside from a few subjective opinions of people on the ground / passengers.

Hope this helps...

Thanks. I think I will go ahead with the flights. It's a free amex flight so it needs to be on DJ metal.

Night lights are irrelevant. The hills and associated night flying rules are the issue.

Can anyone explain why flexi fare is more expensive then the premium economy fare on DJ89? As far as I'm aware premium economy includes everything that flexi has plus more?
