I am booked with Qantas to fly from Perth to Sydney then Sydney to Tokyo.

The transfer time is 1hr 25mins (85 mins).

How will this work considering there is some distance from the domestic to international terminal at Sydney and I will need to go through the necessary formalities.

Normally they suggest you check in two or three hours prior to an international flight. I am ticketed to arrive in Sydney 1hr 25mins before the departure of my international flight.

Thanks in anticipation

I think MCT is 1:15 so you should be ok.

You will receive your NRT BP when checking in at Perth. Also, any luggage you deposit will be checked all the way through - you won't see it until Japan.

Check in at the "Domestic connection to International Flight" check-in counter at PER. If not on the one booking, take both tickets, you should still be fine.

Assuming QF21, at that time of the evening in SYD it's pretty quiet. Head straight to the free Qantas transfer desk near Gate 1 in T3 and take the bus. In the eveing it departs every 20 minutes on the Hour, 20 past and 20 to.

You should be though after arrival within about ¾ hours - head straight to the gate.

Provided you have booked all on the one ticket you'll be fine... (I'd be surprised if your not booked all on one ticket...)

There is the free transfer desk, there is also the train (costs $5), so if you just miss the transfer bus there is still options if your feeling like your going to cut it too fine, either way it'll only take about 5 minutes to actually go between terminals.

Also if you haven't already received them, you should be given your departure australia cards in PER, so make sure they are filled out well before you arrive in SYD, this will help speed things up...

I just did this - BNE-SYD-NRT.

I had 1 hour to transfer - easy as. You'll get your BPs all the way through from PER, and there's that free transfer bus from the DOM to the INTL terminal for Qantas.

I made it with enough time to hit up the duty free shops.
