Hi all

Flying SYD-VLI in a few weeks time. NF metal, ticketed as QF. Flying in Y. As WP I know that I can check-in at the First Class Check-in Suite, and have done so on many occasions previously for flights on FJ. This time I will be travelling with a colleague who has no status. She is ticketed separately. Can I take her to check-in with me? I will be guesting her into the F Lounge, and I would rather not have to wait around while she checks in with the rest of the Y passengers. Doesn't seem to be anything about this on the QF website.

Of course, as long as you are WP, they will still bow down to you and your guest, I have done it many times even on codeshare with a non QFF person

You should have no worries taking your friend with you to the F suite. They’d probably draw the line if you had 10 friends with you :p

I was under the impression you had to check in with the actual metal you were flying with. Have I been wrong all these years?

Depends on the metal you are flying on.

Used to be able to check in at the F desk if flying on a QF ticket and TN metal over to PPT, not any more.

Same with LA. Last week I was on LA800 with a QF ticket and after walking up to the QF F desk to check in I was directed over to the LA check in.

I would never try to check in at a counter that was not the operating carrier.

I reckon you will be directed else where to check-in. QF has to use a different system for different airlines, and if a different ground handler operates on that flight QF wont check you in.

My experience has been with FJ metal out of SYD, as QF owns half of them I'm guessing that's why, although QF checkin doesn't have access to all the seats (e.g. Upper Deck Y on 747) but the FCL angels soon blocked us a whole row on the main deck
