I'd like to take my friends visiting from England to eat in Sydney with view of harbour, bridge, opera house.

i looked at aria menu & opera house restaraunt menus. My choice of food isn't fine dining. Cost isn't an issue.

Any suggestions on somewhere with a view other then 2 restaraunts mentioned.

TIA.

Quay is obviously a good choice for fine dining, as long as you aren't dining when a cruise ship is in port, the views are great.

If you don't care about the food, what about good bars? Blue 46 at Shangri-la. No bookings for the seating in the lounge, but go up and put your name down on the list for a table.

Cafe Sydney, at an outside table has great views of the opera house and circular quay. Request a table on the railing/glass.

If youre dining soon, I'd book through Amex Plat Concierge if you're a member for any table at any of the finer places in Sydney.

watsons bay - either the restaurant or the pub. ferry trip is nice too.

can tack on a ferry trip to manly from watsons bay, and then come back into the city from there.

Cafe Sydney would be my pick if you want the dress circle views without the fussiness of Quay or Aria - always challenging to get a booking at a preferred time IME. On the other side again Aqua Dining, or Sails on Lavender Bay, but IMHO the food and the views are better south of the harbour.
I'm also very partial to O Bar & Dining, the food isn't as cliche as most revolving restaurants and it's a slightly different perspective.

If you're not too precious I would suggest The Deck inside Luna Park. Good view and food at a fair price, and the trip back and forth to Circular Quay is a nice way to bookend your meal.

Cafe Sydney has that statement effect.

Ripples has the benefit of looking back to the Opera House and the bridge.

You could always take them to eat in the Opera House - Bennelong is excellent. I took business colleagues from overseas there and they loved dining inside it. You can walk out the door at the top (through the bar) and get excellent views of the Bridge from the upper promenade. This would be my pick.

Quay? Ate there the other day and views, service and food were tremendous.

My choice for good food and an amazing view while still being a bit casual would be Cafe Sydney as others have said but book early.

If it's a nice day I also *love* Sydney Cove Oyster Bar.

If you're not too precious I would suggest The Deck inside Luna Park. Good view and food at a fair price, and the trip back and forth to Circular Quay is a nice way to bookend your meal.

And given it's a short stroll from where I live, there's a chance you may see me having a glass of wine outside :D

on the not fine dining front, you could always go to chat thai or one of the other restaurants in gateway (non-waterside of CQ), then grab a gelato messina from the ground floor, and take a stroll around the opera house/ botanical gardens. obviously doesn't have views for lunch, but not a bad back up option.

I would suggest Quay at Milsons Point, you simply cant beat the View across the Harbour
They have two and three course Lunch options [ 2 course $75 from memory]
If you are coming from the city you could get a ferry from Circular Quay to Luna Park [ two minute walk ]
The other option is to either walk across the Harbour Bridge from the CBD or perhaps get the Train to Milsons Point Station and walk down the Hill for five minutes
The food is very good as is the service
Contemporary Italian cuisine and a large selection of wines, above the North Sydney Olympic Pool.

Address: Paul St & Northcliff Street, Milsons Point NSW 2061

Just a quick thank you to those suggesting Cafe Sydney. We went last Monday. As we stepped onto the balcony for our table, my friend said wow. Made a great impression on the 3 of us. Food, drink, service, view. It was all wow.
