My sister uses an electric scooter - the type that will fold up & be lifted into the boot of a car. I'm travelling with her HBA-BNE in a few weeks and we have booked wheelchair assistance to board and de-board. This has been confirmed. There is a wheelchair at the other end for her to use
As this will be a long-ish stay, I then wondered if she could take the electric job? I remember there was provision on the assistance request form for something like 'bring your own electric scooter' .
What would be ideal is for her to retain the airline-provided wheelchair assistance to her seat but have the electric scooter carried in the hold and collected like luggage at the other end. It has a lithium battery which I guess would be removed and taken as carry on with me, or however they'd like.
Has anyone experience with this? Would they carry the scooter as 'disabled assistance' or would we need to have it taken as paid baggage/freight?
I'd like to get some ducks lined up before I broach it with my sister so she doesn't get too far ahead in planning.
