Is it just me, or have charges/taxes for QF fares ex SIN to Australia increased significantly? (eg SIN-PER-SIN is $530 SGD in charges/taxes)

This is really dissapointing as the taxes on this route from Per-Sin-Per is $327.29 AUD.

This would make an exchange rate off about $1.60 where the current rate is about $1.27

I really can't see how they can charge different taxes for the same route!!

Its so you can advertise a $260 return special that is really $790 SGD

Any thoughts on what the sale fare - fare class is?

I normally buy the super saver which is about the same old price at SG$418
(varied between 398 and 418) with the old all-up taxes of SG$441.

So
ex SIN sale fare SG$869
ex PER sale fare AU$896

Yeah the super saver fares will be slightly more than they were......
I'll still take the exSIN fares thank you.....

Or do I quit wandering

Fred

The bottom level super saver is V class.....
Which is why I asked about the sale fares

Fred

I booked a sale fare once ex SIN. It was O class. Never again.

Why never again ?

I have no issues at all booking Ex-SIN. All the time... All in price is better than AU by usually 30% or more just depending.

I ment never again a sale fare. Still buy ex SIN. I just use points to upgrade to J. Can't be done with an O fare.

Ok, makes sense now... I was not even thinking in that way.
To SIN i usually take the afternoon flight so upgrade not really worried, the night flight upgrade is very important ! else forget any sleep at all.

The fare that is/was $398+++ always booked into V for me. Any "special" under that price, I have found booked into O

I also tend towards the V class $398 +++ fares. Looking at a booking I made start of the year for SIN-PER-SIN the total cost was $719SGD (ie taxes of $321SGD). Trying to book a fare ex SIN for Sept is returning a fare of $944SGD = $526SGD tax + $418 Supersaver.

When did the taxes increase by approx $200SGD?

Not sure, but I believe that the fuel surcharge for tickets between SIN and Australia rose from around the 120USD mark to the 150USD mark during June sometime (for tickets issued in SIN).

Since a QF call centre person mentioned that she was aware that tickets were cheaper in SIN a couple of years ago when I called to get a seat assignment, perhaps QF has decided too many people have become aware of the disparity ex SIN versus ex Australia.

Pity the connections ex BKK are so lousy to PER.

No wandering allowed (according to QF)

Fred

Was really disappointed with the new fuel surcharges ex-SIN when I was researching a SIN-SYD-SYD return for October/December. The base airfare was S$598 and the taxes and fuel surcharges ~S$610!

As I posted in another thread (Airline fuel surcharges reach $1000)

Qantas has been creeping up the Fuel Surcharge on SIN issued tickets.

Current rates (Post July 3)
