Taxes on Qatar award biz seats $850 more than coach to same cities?

Seemed extra steep to me. About $430 more in taxes each way, on same flights.

SQ seem to have identical taxes for same flights in Biz and coach.

LHR I know has crazy exit taxes in Biz, but most pother countries do not. so in theory should be the same.

Has this always been the deal on Qatar redemptions?

Yes it’s normal for the fees to be double for Qatar redemptions with Velocity points. First class is even more. It does add up especially if you have a 2 leg booking
United and ANA are the two “cheapest” partners with VA. Both have fees under $100 in Business

Up to US$60 in Economy and US$230 in Business, hence the price difference, but it's also per sector.

SQ also has carrier charges with Velocity but it's up to US$50 in Economy and US$150 per sector in Business so not as much of a sting.
