Little gem hidden in the July newsletter

Bringing back the bus!

Another major impact soon to be felt by the TBIT airlines will be the closure of the D-10 Taxilane for reconstruction.

This closure is currently scheduled to begin July 26 and will continue for approximately 30 days. During this period, Gates 119, 120, 121 and 122 will be closed as depicted in the aerial photograph
below. Gate 123 will remain in operation for the duration of the project. This work will once and for all create the appropriate concrete taxilane surface needed to accommodate increased traffic and future use of the new Bradley West facility.

LAWA plans to follow the new gating procedure policy during construction based on the following:
- Maximize the utilization of available resources, specifically contact gates and airfield buses
- Minimize the negative impacts to passenger convenience and customer experience

LAWA will establish a rotation calendar to ensure fair consistent remote operations. Bus operation protocols remain unchanged during the duration of the closure. As always the patience of the TBIT airlines is greatly appreciated.

On the upside the new Gate 134 (the first new gate in Bradley West) is on schedule to open in September

Thanks for that! With that notice I can now take the LAX-BNE-SYD flight from T4 to avoid that petty excuse for a terminal.

RedRoo
will
1) QF be effected (I somehow doubt it since that we usually leave from 123)
2) If we need to be bused will there be a priority bus for F/J/CL because I hate those buses with every man and his dog .

Furthermore, why didn't QF just relocate 744 flights to T4 for the duration of the reconstruction (I understand that T4 can't take A380s)

Well, Gate 123 is the second of the VLA (read A380) gates (101 the other), so at least QF94/QF12 are less likely to be bused.

It's also harder to see them using busses for QF107/QF108 due to the transit facit of the service.

Emirates have a special bus for premium pax I noticed last time I was bussed in DXB

Most Arab carriers use separate busses for premium pax including EY, EK, SV and MS. In fact, I don't ever recall using an aerobridge at CAI's new terminal, including on BA. One feels rather guilty when you and your family are the only ones on a bus, and all the other pax are held back.

actually i would prefer to be bussed - brings back memories of SYD airside tarmac tours.

Dont feel guilty no one forced them to fly Y!

hmm, I'm going QF107 (A380) on 28Aug, and then coming back 10September on 94.

Will this have any impact on our gates? Will it have any impact on our lounge access? lol

See post #1 & #3 for gates - can't help for lounge access other than if one is bussed, boarding generally commences much earlier.

Red Roo tends not to answer questions from us.

He is more the disseminator of information from his masters when they ask him to do so!

Actually if you PM Red Roo they will always reply even if to say they can't comment at this stage. That has been my experience.
