Telstra now accepting Paypal

This sounds like a great way to earn points for payment whilst avoiding that irritating 1% fee for visa (which is even cheekier since the fee is added onto the next bill, hence paying 1% on your last credit card fee!).

Are there any catches I'm missing here regarding PayPal?

Not really, except Australian paypal doesn't accept AMEX (whereas it does in other countries).

I've just discovered that paypal isn't accepted if you have a business account :-( I entered our number and it says it's only for customers with 13 digit account numbers.

Brilliant - thanks all! I have just paid a Telstra bill with PayPal and by AMEX for free. I'll check the next Telstra account but it went through easily enough, and it says everywhere no charge.

I have paid one bill with paypal. I should note that pensioners don't have to pay CC fees if they a Telstra account.

I'm not sure if they did before, but PostBillpay now accepts Paypal as well as the usual Visa and Mastercard options. Which means they accept AMEX too now on all bill payments. The beauty of it was no mention of a surcharge like is usually applied to credit cards. It's a handy way of increasing points from things like electricity bills and council rates.

Q: But what does Paypal earn on Amex?

A: Found this in the other thread.

Contacted Amex just now and the CSA on the phone double checked with his supervisor - can confirm that it's an "everyday spend" item, so Paypal purchases run through Amex earn 1 MR point per AUD$1.
I didn't ask about when Paypal bills in foreign currency, though - if they bill in USD and Amex does the conversion, then I can imagine that you'd get 2 MR points per dollar - but didn't confirm this on the phone.

Used to be able to pay my Telstra bills using PayPal..... until this month when the PayPal option was greyed out.

Same account number as before

Enhancements everywhere, people !

Now, 1% for CC incl. AMEX [2% for Diners]

I used PayPal earlier today without issue.

Cannot explain this

I retried again and the first 2 times, it was greyed out but then it worked again.

Must be some gremlins somewhere (using Google Chrome, and yes, that was the correct site)

All this morning it was greyed out !

I can't use PayPal with my work accounts - ineligible - apparently
