I recently flew on QF967, QF667 and QF664 all 737/800's with the 'old' J configuration - the wide gap between seats and no seat-back screen. On the return QF978 flight it was on the newer 737/800 J configuration with a narrow gap between business class seats and a seat-back screen.

What struck me was that on the three 'old' configurations the seat was really comfortable but on the final leg between BNE & TSV with the 'new' configuration the seat was TERRIBLE. I find it hard to believe that the newer seats could be less comfortable than the old ones. Was it just a bad seat or is this standard across the fleet

Is this the a/c with the BSI (leather seats)?

Flew on a QF BSI today, the seats and the space between the seats was wonderful, but have flown on the newer non-BSI ones too and have found the space between seats to be abysmal. Glad they've got it right at last. Thoroughly enjoyed my upgrade and wouldn't hesitate to burn points to repeat the experience, but I know it's unlikely.
