Hi

So my daughter is off on a school trip to France on Thai Air and have just checked that her flight will accrue points (at 50%), so probably will enrol her for Royal Orchid but thought I should check with the experts to see if there are any other FF plans we should consider.

My wife and I have Singapore membership but without card points don't see how she will ever earn enough and Air NZ which would be useful but seem to have very short times for redemption (I've given my Air NZ membership up on this basis as I only ever fly on the super cheapies which don't accrue points to NZ).

Thanks for assistance in advance!

Cheers

Do you know what fare class the ticket is? That would help some of the members here suggest which programs would be best to join and earn with. I hear BMI tossed around a lot, but I don’t know if that’d do any better than Royal Orchid.

Fare Class is G, so discounted ticket and only recently gets any points at all. Will have a look at BMI.

Noticed that G is not included in either the BMI or Krisflyer earning tables, and is specifically excluded from earning on NZ as well. So the best place (only place?) may well be Thai's program. The other place to check out may be Aegean, but IIRC that's good for status, but probably not so good for spending miles.

Keep in mind that Royal Orchid Plus points expire after 3 years so if no further activity those points will disappear unless she does enough flying to be able to redeem an award by that time.

It is a shame that the booking class does not earn KrisFlyer miles as that is where I would have put them. Without going into too mcuh detail credit card points will transfer to a KrisFlyer account as long as the surname matches.
