G'day, we were wondering if anyone knows if Thai Airways is up and running again? Pre-covid we'd booked business class flights with them Melbourne to Rome return (about $12,000) which naturally had to be cancelled. We're still waiting for a refund (our travel agent says we're in the queue). Anyway, we thought someone on the forum might have some insight into the situation. Many thanks, Owen & Elisa.

They’re up and running again, as in performing flights.

Not sure what the back story is in terms of solvency and financing (and hence refunds).

Did TG cancel your bookings? Have you tried a credit card chargeback?

Yes, they cancelled the bookings. Tried to get a chargeback from Amex but we were outside the timeframe...

Question for a friend whose daughter is flying out of MEL on Thai. She booked through an aggregator (e.g. Expedia, Skyscanner, etc) and when booking they didn’t ask for her middle name, so her e-ticket is her first and last name, no middle name. Her passport has her middle name.

Will this be an issue at check-in, and if so how to fix?

BTW, they're resuming flights to Perth next month.

After a long break, Perth is finally coming back. THAI will resume it’s services from Perth to Bangkok. If you're missing Thai food, enjoy warm Andaman seas and sunlight it’s time to return.

THAI will operate non-stop from Perth to Bangkok every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday starting from 05 July 2022.

agree with dajop, wont be an issue. The passport will be swiped at check in for thai authorities, and that will oncle the middle name.

Saw that when looking for status match opps but $14k upfront commitment bit scary...

I am planning to travel via Thai airways -Bengaluru to Melbourne using krisflyrr miles . I note the taxes are approx A $500 . Also I can save approx A$300 on taxes by booking BLR -BKK through krisflyer and BKK -MEL via air Canada ( both on Thai airways ) . My question is can i check my bags all the way through in BLR ( interline ) and can I travel on 2 tickets via BKK ( Covid related ) ? TIA

Can tryouts book the entire BLR-MEL via air canada? They have an option to ‘buy up’ any additional miles you might need.

TG are apparently resuming PER (again) from March 24 and increasing SYD to 2 Daily.

Interested in the Oslo and Milan service resumption, but the link states "Reservation not available". Short of checking every day, how do we know when they will publish the fares? Keen to add more TG awards to my choice of Lifemiles redemptions.

I think I read somewhere that they just added someone's (LATAM's?) castoff 359s and didn't refit the 2-2-2 nonsense. So after finally getting to a place where it seemed like one might book Thai long-haul business with relative safety in terms of hard product, now this risk is back in the mix.

Your memory hasn’t failed you, yet.

Do we know which routes these babies fly? Despite the retro vibes and shivers down my spine of Skybed MkII, the LATAM 2x2 seats don’t look bad at all and are undoubtedly a step ahead of their 773 biz product.
