I've been renting a car in Thailand for close to 10 years and I've never had an issue with no international driving permit and I just show NSW drivers licence and passport.

I'm hiring a car in September for 11 days and it was down to Hertz or Chic Car Rent. Hertz could not confirm the vehicle I wanted so went with Chic Car Rent.

I do recall mention that drivers licence must have 6 month validity but I can't find that in the terms and conditions now. Mine is expiring Nov 2023 so would only have 2 months validity.

Has anyone had issues previously with their drivers licence close to expiry? I'm not planning on visiting Sydney before my trip so would need to renew online. Think I'm eligible.

All good have answered my own question.

If you renew NSW drivers licence inside of 6 months before your renewal you keep original expiry date so new drivers licence is on the way.
